First Circle, offered in 2017: Seminar on women’s journalism

The seminar on women’s journalism will include discussion groups (‘focus-groups'), open, public debates and will lead to the creation of a thematic audiovisual and digital repository, a one or two-day conference, and a range of associated publications. Research will initially be conducted in Athens and Thessaloniki, with a view to become nationwide.

Members of the discussion groups will be invited to join professionals associated with the press, in accordance with the theme of each seminar. Each of these discussions will last about two hours, comprising c. 15-min oral testimonies from 5-10 speakers, plus questions and answers sessions and open discussions. Speakers will have previously been provided with a questionnaire be the research team outlining the principal areas of discussion.

Following their completion, the results will be made public in order to stimulate further dialogue. The meetings will be recorded and filmed.

  1. Representatives of partner institutions in the ETMIET project, e.g. trades unions, libraries, cultural foundations, etc.
  2. Members of trade unions associated with all aspects of journalism
  3. All with an interest or specialism in press history in general, or women’s journalism in particular.

All participants will be awarded a formal Certificate of Attendance by Panteion University.
