“Scattered facts have been published occasionally about some of the Jewish newspapers that circulated in Greece between 1861 and 1940. Many of these newspapers, however, were ignored even though they were published over a long period of time, especially in Thessaloniki. This provided the stimulus for me to conduct a broader search to find and record whatever facts I could unearth, even though many of them were incomplete, while the credibility and authenticity of others were disputed in some circles. My persistent inquiries revealed a large number of publications that had circulated, the content of which was interwoven with the centuries-long life of Jews in Greece”. (Prologue, pp. 9-10)
